Wear Karen Kane to get “Runway to Real Way Fashions”

On the Wendy Williams Show, InStyle magazine’s Subria Shaw showed viewers how to wear trends from the runway in real life. In their “Wild Thing” section, Subria talks about the use of animal prints on the runway for Fall 2013. Designers from Burberry Prorsum, Saint Lauren, Tom Ford, and Jason Wu were seen using animal prints in a big way.  To achieve this runway look easily, she suggests the Karen Kane 3/4 Sleeve Cascade Wrap Dress (3L08141) in cheetah print. Super flattering, on trend, what’s not to like about this dress?

Karen Kane in Time Out New York

Karen Kane’s Knot Front Paint Splash Dress (2L11016) was featured in Time Out New York’s “Trend Watch: Office-appropriate shift and sheath dresses for less than $200″ story. As the story says, this dress is a great piece to transition from the cubicle to cocktails. It provides the right amount of coverage for an office environment, but still has personality with a fun print. It’s a fantastic choice for summer.

Faux Leather, Real Chic

We’re seeing it everywhere, summer leather that is. It’s one of the season’s hottest trends and, well, I’m diggin’ it. From shirts to skirts and playful details, we should all jump on this look. Summer, Spring, Winter or Fall – there’s no excuse not to.

Growing up in Mississippi with scorching heat, my summer staple has always been a cute cotton sundress, most of the time in floral prints and bright colors (which I love), but sometimes I want (need) something different. I’m excited to embrace year round leather and add a bit more edge to my summer collection! Never did I think I would be wearing leather in any other way than a jacket or vest, but let me tell you, when I put this Karen Kane leather inset dress on, I felt FIERCE! Like a diva ready to take on L.A… LOL, just kidding… no, I’m not – I did! This dress falls perfectly over my curves, and the vertical faux leather inset creates a long lean look. I’m wearing this dress with my hair pinned up for a fancy night out or paired with my favorite wedge sandals for a casual look. With fall approaching and more leather on the horizon, y’all had better watch out: here comes diva!

Melrose Must-Haves

I started working for Karen Kane a few months ago. As you can probably imagine, the best part of working for a clothing company is the clothes! After working with samples day in and day out, I was eager to get my hands on a few pieces of my own. Working at the headquarters in Los Angeles, I’ve seen the quality and care that goes into each piece we ship out. Can you believe almost all of it is made in sunny California?! When our newest collection, “Melrose,” finally arrived, I had a chance to purchase my first few looks, and I felt like a kid on Christmas morning!

Therefore, for my first post, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you my “Melrose Must-Haves” – the pieces I can’t live without!

  1. Button Up Blouson Sleeve Shirt – 2L25186W
I consider my style to be a little more laid back, so when I saw a blouse I could dress up or down, I knew it would be my new obsession. My favorite part of this shirt is the color. This particular shade of coral (which we’ve been calling “salmon”) is warm, but not too bold. I also love the fact that this shirt is machine washable. For a girl who uses the dryer to get wrinkles out, it only helps that my new favorite top is perfectly wrinkle resistant!
  2. Contrast Maxi Tank Dress – 2L13084W
I have some mad love for maxi dresses, but I actually don’t have as many as I would like. They are super easy to throw on and go! I absolutely love how the color blocking creates an illusion of a print and sets it apart for your basic black dress. Also, the rayon/spandex fabric is amazingly soft and lightweight, which makes for a great look…whether it’s casual or more dressed up for the office.
