The Daily Muse’s article “Want a New Spring Wardrobe? Shop in Your Closet!” is all about looking at your clothes in a new light. Instead of going out and spending your last paycheck, buy basic pieces and accessories to help reinvent your old clothes. Hannah Baker, writer of the article, mixed her Karen Kane Zebra Print Tank Top with a white blazer and her Karen Kane Twill Skinny Jeans. This fun conversational tank is easy to match with and looks great when dressed up or down.
Another hot trend right now is bold stripes. Hannah matched a blue striped top with a red striped tank and her White Stretch Skinny Jeans. I must say this is quite the creative and bold look!
Recently fashionista and editor of The Luxury Spot, Bryce Gruber was seen on Today’s Wendy Williams Show wearing the Sleeveless Contrast Front Dress. She added her own touch to the dress by adding a pastel blazer. This sharp and sophisticated dress is sure to become your favorite desk to dinner companion. Get it now on KarenKane.com!
Orange is the official “IT” color for this season’s spring/summer collections. Its time to warm up your wardrobes and add some color to your outfits. All the top designers are incorporating this vibrant color into their collections this season. Dressing orange up and down, ladies are wearing it to the office as well as a night on the town. HighFashionMagazine.com featured a Karen Kane piece in their article, “Pantone’s Tropical Top Color: Nectarine.” The piece featured is the Long Sleeve Zip Motorcycle Jacket, available online at KarenKane.com.
Nothing compliments a spring/summer outfit better than a beautiful scarf. Wearing it around your neck, head or purse, the possibilities are endless. Style network has featured Karen Kane’s super chic seahorse print scarf on their website and Facebook page. You can check it out on the Style Network. This fun piece is 100% silk and will look fabulous with any outfit. If you are interested in ordering online, you can find it at Karen Kane.
If you’re already a fan of Foam Magazine, there is no need to tell you why we love each issue: beautiful seaside photos, great fashion advice, and that laid back vibe that makes it totally unique. Here’s something special you won’t find in this month’s issue: a gorgeous layout the magazine shot devoted to bright, colorful summer fashion. These beautiful images aren’t available in print — so we wanted to feature them online for all the world to see. We love the way they styled all of the great Karen Kane pieces they pulled for the shoot. Which image is your favorite?
Finding the perfect pair of jeans is an experience that delivers the same amount of fulfillment as reaching nirvana…okay, not quite – but close. So many things can go wrong when shopping for denim – the jean’s shape might be too tight or too loose, the finishing may be too overdone, or the jeans can look great but feel horribly uncomfortable. That’s where Karen Kane comes in. We’ve developed what we think is the perfect pair of jeans – and every woman who’s tried them on seems to agree!
More Magazine recently featured our knit band boot cut jeans in their May 2012 issue, as their #1 pick for denim that flatters every body shape. Their favorite element of the jeans is the signature elastic waistband, which smoothes out the waistline and create a figure-flattering silhouette. Several other Karen Kane jeans come equipped with this same feature – some of our bestselling favorites are the dark rinse jegging and capri jegging. In plus size, we offer the popular denim legging and capri jegging, both of which offer the same fabulous fit.
Whichever style and silhouette is your favorite, these specially designed jeans are sure to provide a comfortable and flattering fit!
The Bachelorette‘s Emily Maynard is currently filming the next season of the hit ABC show in the Caribbean. Us Weekly spotted her last week wearing Karen Kane’s boat neck tape yarn sweater in Bermuda, while on a boat with her potential bachelors. Check out these images of her and catch it when it airs this summer on ABC. You can find Emily’s sweater available now in stores and online here.
We’ve always been a fan of the Windy City, so we were extremely excited today when we saw Refinery 29 Chicago’s feature on our new Spring 2012 collection! Refinery 29 is one of our daily must-read sites about fashion & beauty, so it’s an honor that they picked us to feature. Check out the post to see which Spring looks were their favorites!
Yesterday, Los Angeles’ ABC 7 News team stopped by Karen Kane’s corporate headquarters to learn about manufacturing clothing in America and profile the company for insourcing American jobs. It was a lot of fun to show them around the building and explain how clothing gets made here. Read the story and check out the video below to watch the feature on the growing “Made in USA” trend.
We loved her rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “Last Name,” and we weren’t the only ones! Both Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton wanted her on their teams, but in the end Adley picked Blake. We wish her all the best during this season’s competition – hope this is just the beginning of a long, fabulous career for her!
We are so excited to be featured in the February/March 2012 issue of SIEMPRE MUJER! Check out our fabulous casino jacket featured in the magazine’s newest issue! You can find it available now in stores and online at Bloomingdale’s.
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the premiere of our Fall 2012 collection at Magic Las Vegas today! We had bloggers stopping by (like Marie Denee, the fabulous Curvy Fashionista herself), organizers of both Phoenix Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week popped in for visits, and a special visitor from Giuliana Rancic’s website FabFitFun (which we LOVE!) also surprised us with a fun visit to check out the new collection. On top of all the special guests we had, we were also featured today in Women’s Wear Daily’s Fall 2012 preview! Check out the amazing dress they showcased below.
It’s going to be hard to beat all of the excitement we had at Day 1, but we’re already getting excited for day 2!
“NEW FRONTIER: The American West continues its influence this Fall. Navajo prints, Western details, faux fur and plenty of denim combine for today’s take on the look.”
“Designers look West to create hipster chic reminiscent of the American frontier.”
“Navajo prints, faux fur, and plenty of denim combine for today’s modern take. For Fall, the American West continues to inspire.”
Attending Magic in a week? Stop by and visit Karen Kane at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 82302, to see the debut of the Fall 2012 collection. For sales appointments, please contact Joyce Christensen at 213.623.6611 or email@example.com.
It’s going to be a bright year! Each year, Pantone, the worldwide authority on color, releases its choice for “Color of the Year.” Their pick for 2012? Tangerine Tango — a vibrant shade of red-orange that “continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.”
To help with that cause, we’re releasing an exclusive striped shirt with Nordstrom later this month. It’s available in a variety of colors…including tangerine! Newsday featured the top as one of their top tangerine picks for 2012.
It will be available soon at Nordstrom nationwide. If tangerine isn’t your favorite color, it’s also available in apple green, black, cobalt blue, sherbert pink, and turquoise. 2012 is going to be bright indeed!
Our scallop lace dress and cheetah print shirt were both recently featured on the fashion blog Calivintage! Check out the amazing outfit Erin put together using these two pieces. We would have never thought to pair them, but she proves that it totally works and makes for quite a statement. To see her full post, check out Calivintage here. The shirt and dress pictured are both still available at Dillard’s here: shirt & dress.
This past weekend I had the joy of attending a Karen Kane holiday fashion show put on by Dillard’s at Scottsdale’s Fashion Square Mall. It was a lot of fun to meet loyal Karen Kane customers (who also happened to model in the show!) as well as lots of Phoenix-area fashion bloggers who came out to see the show. Among the bloggers in attendance were Karen from Scottsdale Fashionista, Sarai and Edna from Global Runway, Courtney from Phoenix is Haute, Kara from Sunshine Cupcakes, Kristianne from Fashion Route, Katherine from Sparkle Farkle, Angela from Forward Fashion Diary, Dustin from IndieStitch, and Lauren from Phoenix Fashion Week.
The show was a huge success, and the models all looked great in their various looks put together by Dillard’s dedicated Karen Kane specialist, Yolanda Quinbar. She was phenomenal in putting the together so quickly and professionally. Take a look at some of the links below to find out more about the show and see photos of the looks featured. It was a great weekend! Can’t wait to visit Phoenix again soon!

We recently chatted with author John Briggs about the fact that 80% of our collection is made in the United States. John is writing a book about job creation in the US manufacturing sector and saw us mentioned in the LA Times, which sparked his interest in Karen Kane. While writing his book, he’s also updating a blog, Simply American, in which he chronicled Karen Kane’s efforts to produce clothing in America. It’s a great read – to find out more, check it out here!
Our dark rinse jeggings were featured on Michigan fashion blog, “Miss Vinyl Ahoy!” These jeggings have become one of our most popular styles over the past year…customers who try them on rave about their fit and comfort. Check out the full post on Miss Vinyl Ahoy here. You can find the jeggings featured on karenkane.com here.
PS: Don’t believe me about how comfortable these jeggings are? Check out Already Pretty’s review of them!
Our cheetah pencil skirt from Fall 2011 was featured on “Raving Fashionista!” Pairing it with a solid, bright top is a fantastic idea…we love how it contrasts with the neon pink. Check out Raving Fashionista’s full post here! You can find the skirt for sale online and in stores at Bloomingdale’s.
Last week, Lonnie Kane (the CEO of Karen Kane & Karen’s husband) was interviewed on Bloomberg TV as a part of an ongoing series entitled “Made in the USA: The Price of the American Job.” The profile on Karen Kane focused on how the company has brought the majority of its production back to the United States from China and the impact of the U.S. economy of hiring more workers. The video also features a variety of images from Karen Kane’s Fall 2011 collection as well as an inside look at the Karen Kane manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. It’s definitely worth checking out!
Our brand new striped sweater with pockets was featured on “Love, Ramsey!” It’s available in both sapphire blue and rich camel shades. We think she looks fab in it!
When I got into work today, my heart must have jumped a beat or two when I saw the cover of today’s WWD! They featured our polka dot blouse and pencil skirt from our Holiday 2011 collection as part of a feature on the women’s better market. So exciting! Can’t wait until we get to show you the rest of our Holiday collection, but hope you enjoy this sneak peek until then!
You may have noticed some bloggers talking about (and wearing) our newest collection, Rustic Summer, recently. We’ve gotten a lot of requests asking where the items they’ve been wearing can be purchased, so we put together this great guide to help you find the items and steal their style!
Our Ruffle Hem Dress was clearly a hit for Ramsey, and we can totally see why! The cabbage rose print and mellow yellow color story provide a fresh and fun summer feeling. The ruffle hemline allows the skirt to move freely with the summer breeze. It’s a great look for her – and she styled it wonderfully with these two totally different outfits. You can find the ruffle hem dress at Zappos.
Our African Print Flare Skirt was Ashley’s pick to create this fun, semi-preppy outfit. The chic Africa print stands out against her conventional shirt and cardigan to dramatize the entire look. It’s an easy way to add a pop of color into any outfit and create a true head-turner. You can find our flare skirt at Zappos.
Talk about taking a walk on the wild side this summer! This cheetah print flutter top is dip-dyed by hand at our headquarters in Los Angeles. The cotton/silk blend is a perfect breezy, light summer fabrication for any hot day. As you can see from the photo, it looks amazing on Ramsey, and it has a similar effect on any woman who tries it on. It’s one of Karen’s favorite pieces this season! You can find it at Bloomingdale’s.
Angie’s tour through the Karen Kane headquarters started in Karen’s work room, but she had the most fun visiting the sample room. It’s inside this room that all of the initial Karen Kane product prototypes are cut, sewn together, and fitted for accuracy on a fit model. Once a pattern & style is deemed acceptable, Karen approves it and the garment receives its official “style number” (think of it like an official birth certificate!). However, there are still a lot more steps before that item ever makes it to a store – stay tuned to YouLookFab to continue Angie’s tour of our headquarters next week!
Angie at YouLookFab visited our corporate office last month and we had a ball with her! Check out her coverage of the tour we gave her and find out what it’s like to spend a day in Karen’s shoes. It’s as close to a virtual tour of our manufacturing headquarters that we can offer. Check it out here!
Ashley featured our brand new white shift dress from “Rustic Summer” on her site, “Ashley Getting Dressed!” The dress comes in both white and black variations and is available now in stores. For more information and other looks from our new June collection, check out other outfits from the collection here.
You may not be aware of this, but Karen is a proud alumna of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. She graduated from the downtown LA school in 1976 after majoring in fashion design. A little fun fact? While in school, she was awarded the prestigious Peacock Award for excellence in fashion design. Pretty cool!
Karen sat down recently to chat with FIDM when they asked for an update of what she’s been up to in the past year. Check out her profile from the Spring 2011 of FIDM’s alumni magazine, “Dialogues,” to find out what she told them!
We absolutely loved how Ramsey looked in our floral ruffle hem dress, and she’s won our hearts over again with her latest Karen Kane outfit! Check out our dip-dye flutter top from “Rustic Summer” (coming to stores the last week of May) – doesn’t she look amazing? We definitely think this is a summer look that should be repeated all season long!
During the course of setting up some recent promotions on YouLookFab, I was lucky enough to get the chance to talk to Michelle McQuigge, a reporter and editor for The Canadian Press, about the upcoming relaunch of KarenKane.com. Since joining Karen Kane in January, we’ve all made it a big priority to get our full product offering out to customers in the best ways possible. With the launch of our new website on July 1, we’re excited to announce that customers will now have the ability to shop directly from us. This means that customers who don’t have Karen Kane available to them in a store nearby will now be able to shop our collections as well! We’ll keep bringing you news about the new site as the launch date approaches – so mark July 1 on your calendar – it’s sure to be a very exciting day!
Until then, you can read about the exciting things we have planned for the all new KarenKane.com at YouLookFab!
When we designed our printed scoopneck dress for spring, citron wasn’t the accent color we originally had in mind for it. As part of our “By The Sea,” group, we imagined it with deep shades of blue inspired by – what else? – the sea. However, as soon as we saw this photo of Sally McGraw, the author of one of our favorite blogs (Already Pretty), we got so excited about the possibility of pairing it with tons of different color combinations we never thought about. Here, she does a fabulous job of contrasting the black & white in the dress with a deliciously electric shade of citron. We love this look – it’s so summery and the bright color is perfectly on-trend for the season. You can find the dress she’s wearing at Dillard’s here, or if you want to try a slight variation on it, you can also try pairing ultra-brights with our similarly black-and-white floral tank dress, available here at Belk.
Have you signed up for our latest giveaway yet? If not, there’s still time before the clock runs out. To win a $200 shopping spree & styling day with a Karen Kane representative, head over to Dwelling & Telling and register to win by checking out our newest collection, “The Hamptons.” The contest will close Monday, May 23, at midnight CST.
The fabulous blog coverage just keeps on coming today! “Love, Ramsey” previewed our ruffle hem dress from the upcoming summer collection, “Rustic Summer,” on her site today. We absolutely love the way she styled it with some vintage boots, a small brown belt, and a perfect-for-spring vest. The dress will be available the first week of June – so keep on the look out for it at a store near you soon! This is truly a look that will stay fresh all summer long!
Last week, Kimmie, who runs the blog “Blue Paper Lanterns,” won one of our recent giveaways we hosted on another site. She was able to go on a shopping spree with a Karen Kane representative and spend $200 at Macy’s Bellevue in Seattle this past weekend. Kimmie also happens to be a blogger herself, and posted about the great experience she had with our rep, Angie, on her site today. Like her dress? It’s available in stores now!
We had so much fun this past week seeing our first items from the Summer 2011 collection start to appear in the blogosphere. We loved all the feedback from YouLookFab members on our summer looks competition and thought Angie looked phenomenal in each of the outfits she tried on when reviewing the newest collection.
Over on Dwelling & Telling, Linley sported Karen Kane items not once, not twice, but three times this week! We are so happy she’s loving our pieces so much – we think she looks great in them! Early in the week, she put together a nautical inspired outfit with our white ankle pants. Gearing up for the weekend, she wore our smocked blouson in an on-trend boho chic look. And yesterday, she paired our cardigan with a plaid shirt and dress to show readers how a layered look would work great for cooler spring days.
Can’t wait to see what outfits bloggers will be wearing this week!
