We recently chatted with author John Briggs about the fact that 80% of our collection is made in the United States. John is writing a book about job creation in the US manufacturing sector and saw us mentioned in the LA Times, which sparked his interest in Karen Kane. While writing his book, he’s also updating a blog, Simply American, in which he chronicled Karen Kane’s efforts to produce clothing in America. It’s a great read – to find out more, check it out here!
You may have noticed some bloggers talking about (and wearing) our newest collection, Rustic Summer, recently. We’ve gotten a lot of requests asking where the items they’ve been wearing can be purchased, so we put together this great guide to help you find the items and steal their style!
Our Ruffle Hem Dress was clearly a hit for Ramsey, and we can totally see why! The cabbage rose print and mellow yellow color story provide a fresh and fun summer feeling. The ruffle hemline allows the skirt to move freely with the summer breeze. It’s a great look for her – and she styled it wonderfully with these two totally different outfits. You can find the ruffle hem dress at Zappos.
Our African Print Flare Skirt was Ashley’s pick to create this fun, semi-preppy outfit. The chic Africa print stands out against her conventional shirt and cardigan to dramatize the entire look. It’s an easy way to add a pop of color into any outfit and create a true head-turner. You can find our flare skirt at Zappos.
Talk about taking a walk on the wild side this summer! This cheetah print flutter top is dip-dyed by hand at our headquarters in Los Angeles. The cotton/silk blend is a perfect breezy, light summer fabrication for any hot day. As you can see from the photo, it looks amazing on Ramsey, and it has a similar effect on any woman who tries it on. It’s one of Karen’s favorite pieces this season! You can find it at Bloomingdale’s.
When we designed our printed scoopneck dress for spring, citron wasn’t the accent color we originally had in mind for it. As part of our “By The Sea,” group, we imagined it with deep shades of blue inspired by – what else? – the sea. However, as soon as we saw this photo of Sally McGraw, the author of one of our favorite blogs (Already Pretty), we got so excited about the possibility of pairing it with tons of different color combinations we never thought about. Here, she does a fabulous job of contrasting the black & white in the dress with a deliciously electric shade of citron. We love this look – it’s so summery and the bright color is perfectly on-trend for the season. You can find the dress she’s wearing at Dillard’s here, or if you want to try a slight variation on it, you can also try pairing ultra-brights with our similarly black-and-white floral tank dress, available here at Belk.
