Grab your wallets and your new heels ladies, tonight is Fashion’s Night Out! Some of us at the Karen Kane showroom, here in New York City, will go strolling down the street after the office to check out Macy’s Herald Square on 34th st. Nothing short of a miracle, the “World’s Largest Department Store” will be unveiling the “World’s Largest Shoe Floor” tonight while hosting a plethora of of other activities from a Benefit Cosmetics bash with one of our favorite reality t.v. stars, Emily Maynard to party hosting tips with the Macy’s Culinary Council and complimentary cocktails. Of course, we will be sure to check out the 5th floor to get some fashion advice from Clinton Kelly and shop the Karen Kane Fall Collection. Stay tuned for pics from the events!

Back in New York at the Lord & Taylor flagship on 39th street, women shopping Fashion’s Night Out tried their luck at the Karen Kane lock box. The box contained a $600 Karen Kane shopping spree for one lucky winner with the matching key. At 10:27 pm we found our woman!

Summer Must-Have: The Blazer

Bright Pink Shirred 3/4 Sleeve Blazer

Nothing else comes close when it comes to versatility – the blazer can truly do it all. Wear it work with black pants or a skirt, take it out at night over a blouse and jeans or a dress, and throw it on over weekends with casual denim and a scarf. This season’s must-have item is the relaxed blazer – structured enough for work, but fun and easy enough for free time. While a timeless black blazer is always something you should have in your closet, we’re even more excited about brights and pastels this season – check out all the fabulous color options we have on the line for summer. You’ll be trailblazing in no time!

Neutral Territory

Stylists, fashion bloggers, and magazines seem to have a favorite topic right now: bright colors & how important they are for Spring 2012. While we won’t argue with them, and definitely love our brights (and have tons of them available right now!), we also can’t forget the importance of neutrals.

Women’s Wear Daily agrees with us when they noted back in December 2011 that “sometimes it’s best to stick with the classics,” while referencing designer’s wide array of neutral offerings for spring. Instead of harping on about our love for beige, cream, and taupe, it’s probably best to just just let these simple, clean shades do the talking for themselves.  Check out our newest arrivals for spring – and you’ll see why neutrals are a natural fit. You can find all of these and more at karenkane.com here.

Tropical Trend: Turquoise

Turquoise makes a splash for Spring

Bright colors are what everyone seems to be talking about right now – and we can’t blame them! One of our favorite colors this season is cool, confident turquoise. This gorgeous shade looks great against nearly every type of skin tone, brightens up any outfit instantly, and consistently looks fresh. Whether it’s having a moment or not, it’s a color that always seems to be popular, so you won’t have a problem wearing it long after this current obsession with it passes. Check out some of our favorite looks this season in turquoise – the tie-front shirt, uneven hem crochet sweater, sequin tank, and tie-dye maxi dress. They’re all going to be hot commodities this spring – we can feel the temperature rising already!

Faux Fur for Fall 2011

With school back in session and summer vacation over, fall is finally in full swing! One of the biggest trends on runways for Fall 2011 is fur – both faux and real. Faux fur has had a revolutionary transformation in the past few years, and even fashion labels like Prada and Chanel, which once shied away faux fur are now using it in their collections. Nordstrom caught on and identified faux fur as one of their Best Trends this year. To learn more about the advancements in faux fur and how it’s been designed to look more and more realistic in recent years, check out this fantastic article from the Los Angeles Times.

We’ve tapped into this trend for our newest collection, with tons of faux fur details on coats, sweaters, tops, jackets, and more. Animal-inspired touches are a fun way to take a classic style and give it an updated twist. We’ve included some of our favorite styles that use new faux technology below. Enjoy!
